Abstract: Indian literature contains certain styles and themes, includes several authors. The modern writers Sudha Murty and Perumal Murugan concentrate on a wide range of societal issues. The natural flow of Mr. Murugan’s and Mrs. Murty’s writing is what makes their style unique. Readers and researchers could notice the unfiltered emotions of their characters because authors like Mr. Murugan and Mrs. Murty write not only for readers but also for researchers. Although not all readers are researchers, all researchers are readers. The fictional characters of Perumal Murugan and Sudha Murty are portrayed as real-life people with unfiltered emotions and realistic reactions. The study is based on a few women characters from the authors’ works, specifically Sudha Murty’s Mahashweta and Perumal Murugan’s Pyre. Such characters are examined in the study paper from the perspective of double oppression, which influences their psychological space and the way their characters develop throughout the book. The research paper also highlights the variations in characters like positive, negative and flat characters in the novel with sufficient secondary source to support the study.
