Abstract: 22 Female Kottayam and Sara’s are two thought-provoking movies from the Mollywood film industry. The main themes of these movies are body autonomy, women empowerment, and justice. The lead roles rebel against a stereotypical society, challenge traditional norms, and resist patriarchy. These female characters are portrayed with their abilities, vulnerabilities, and mental strength to overcome challenges on screen. The female gaze serves as the primary theoretical background analyzed in this paper, focusing on the characters’ words, actions, emotions, and journeys as the main leads. These movies have a significant impact on certain viewers in society. Mollywood is increasingly portraying realistic situations with social impact. This paper assesses the changing scenario of women’s roles in terms of medical and legal laws, the influence of education on society, and the constantly evolving perspectives of women. Both films are examined in the context of contemporary constructions of womanhood. Furthermore a broader evaluation of the global discourse on gender.
